چکیده
A novel enriched finite element method (EFEM) was employed to analyze the transient wave propagation problems. In present method, traditional approximation by employing appropriate interpolation covers. We mathematically and numerically showed that EFEM possessed important monotonic convergence property with decrease of used time steps for problems when unconditional stable Newmark integration scheme integration. This attractive markedly distinguishes from FEM Two typical numerical examples were given demonstrate capabilities method.

Cover interpolation functions and h-enrichment in finite element method
This paper presents a method to improve the generation of meshes and the accuracy of numerical solutions of elasticity problems, in which two techniques of h-refinement and enrichment are used by interpolation cover functions. Initially, regions which possess desired accuracy are detected. Mesh improvment is done through h-refinement for the elements existing in those regions. Total error of th...
متن کاملFinite Element Heterogeneous Multiscale Method for Transient Wave Propagation
A finite element heterogeneous multiscale method (FEHMM) is proposed for the time dependent wave equation with highly oscillatory, albeit not necessarily periodic, coefficients. It is based on a finite element discretization of an effective wave equation at the macro scale, whose a priori unknown effective coefficients are computed “on the fly” on sampling domains within each macro finite eleme...

متن کاملSolution of Harmonic Problems with Weak Singularities Using Equilibrated Basis Functions in Finite Element Method
In this paper, Equilibrated Singular Basis Functions (EqSBFs) are implemented in the framework of the Finite Element Method (FEM), which can approximately satisfy the harmonic PDE in homogeneous and heterogeneous media. EqSBFs are able to automatically reproduce the terms consistent with the singularity order in the vicinity of the singular point. The newly made bases are used as the compliment...
متن کاملA Finite Element Study of Transient Wave Propagation in Plates
National Bureau of Standards Gaithersburg, MD 20899 Studies of transient wave propagation in plates were carried out to establish a basis for the impact-echo technique as a nondestructive test for flaw detection in concrete. The surface displacements caused by stress waves generated by point impact on a plate were calculated using both the Green's function solution and the finite element method...
